Good to see the Wheelers are still going strong. I loved my short time with the club. I may of been a bit of a donkey but it was so cool to be a part of things. All the best everyone.

I'v done a bit of velodrome cycling before and would like to start road cycling and racing
Has anyone got any tips on what would make a good beginners road/race bike
Thanks

Hi
My late father, Fred Pemberton, of Pemberton Arrow fame in Manchester and Sale was a Life Member of MW. I inherited from him an original drawing by T Patterson. Your older members will recall that TP's drawings were highly regarded and featured frequently in Cycling. This particular picture is of a cyclist in Barford St Martin, Wilts. I will gladly send a scanned image to anyone who can shed some light on Patterson himself (inc birthpace if poss). Meanwhile, every good wish to all members. (As I write I am reminded of club run I went on as a lad to the MW clubhouse in Goostrey, Ches. We had a meal and when we came out there was Fred's tandem (& Mum's)high up in a tree - put there solo by Reg Harris!)

Hi to all,
Heard of your cycle club through David Harman's commentary on British Eurosport - Tour de France.
Used to cycle in my younger years and would love to get back to it, keep fit and race if poss, you never know. Have to buy a bike first.
Great site and look forward to meeting you all soon.

Just looked at the site after the Manc Uni cycling club said it might not exist next year when I go back for the 2nd year of my course. I might be in contact in Sept!
The site was very informative!

Hi all, came across the website while searching for Paul Curran. I remember Paul coming out to Australia in 1985 and winning our Grafton to Inverell cycle classic and along the way smashing the race record by 23 minutes. (228 klm) A few of us around here old enough to remember, and lucky enough to witness first hand, still talk about Paul in awe. Awesome rider.
